How to Install CyanogenMod

CyanogenMod is an aftermarket firmware for a number of cell phones based on the open-source Android operating system. It offers features not found in the official Android based firmwares of vendors of these cell phones. Before Installing CyanogenMod Take complete backup of all your files,which include contacts,APN settings,SMS,call logs using Astro File Manager and Backup & Restore App[SMS Backup].Also Enable USB Debugging (Settings >Applications >Development > USB Debugging).

How to Install CyanogenMod 9 Based ICS 4.0.
  1. Download the ROM and Gapps zip file from XDA development thread.
  2. Connect your phone to your PC via USB cable and Copy the downloaded zip files to the root of your Sdcard.
  3. Now,Disconnect your phone from PC and power it down.
  4. Reboot your device into recovery mode by pressing Home button + Volume Lower button + Power Button concurrently.
  5. Take “android” backup during recovery mode.
  6. Now Wipe cache, dalvik cache and data when you are in recovery. This is accomplished to avoid force close issues.
  7. Choose Install ZIP from sdcard >Choose zip from SD card and choose the ZIP file you copied to Sdcard in Step 3 and flash it.
  8. Return and choose “Reboot system now”.
